My name is Scotlyn and I teach vocals and piano. I have been singing and playing since I was 5 years old, and since then I have worked hard every day to share music with everyone in as many ways as I can. I have performed in many choirs throughout high school and college, studied music education at Belmont University, studied music therapy at Temple, trained with several private teachers, and attended songwriting workshops over the years, and I have been performing as the front-woman in an original alternative rock band since 2010. I feel that the best way to pass on my knowledge and love for music is by teaching. My lessons focus not only on technique and practice, but also on theory, songwriting, and what music means to each student. Each lesson is personalized for every student, based on their goals, interests, and skill levels. My objective as a teacher is to open students’ eyes to the world of music, and allow them to discover their own musical passion within.
